What Sebring Village Lists for Beloit's Water
The Sebring Village system is run by local government for 6,058 people through 2,438 connections. It takes surface water through an intake on the Mahoning River and lists one treatment plant and 3 storage tanks. EPA lists coagulation, flocculation, sedimentation and rapid sand filtration to take out particles. Powdered activated carbon handles taste and odor, and granular activated carbon helps control disinfection by-products. Gaseous chlorine goes in before and after filtration, pH adjustment and an orthophosphate inhibitor control corrosion, and fluoride is added.
At a tap on that line, the disinfectant is chlorine. Chlorine removal covers the CityLux system, and the village's water report covers everything else it measured.
Thick Ground Above the Rock
Of the 1,668 logs near Beloit that record depth to rock, the middle half find it between 32 and 89 feet, and one in four has 89 feet or more of soil and loose material on top. That upper ground is cased off: pipe runs from the surface into the top of the rock with grout sealed around it, so surface water can't run down the outside.
Below the casing the well is open hole in rock until it takes in enough water. The rock mapped at the town center is the Allegheny and Pottsville Groups, Pennsylvanian shale, siltstone, limestone and sandstone. Residential drilling covers the job, and the cost page explains how a long casing run and extra footage shape a quote.
