COLUMBIANA COUNTY, OHIO · 69 MIN FROM OUR CORTLAND OFFICE
Well Drilling &Water Treatmentin East Liverpool, OH.
East Liverpool is the pottery city on the Ohio River, with steep township country climbing away from the water. In the city most homes are on municipal water; up in St. Clair, Liverpool, Yellow Creek, and Madison townships they are on wells, and new wells and pump service are what those homes often need from us. Chatfield comes from our Cortland office.
Whether you’re on a private well or city water, the same crew handles the water source, the pressure, and what comes out of the tap.
WATER TREATMENT
Well water treatment in East Liverpool, OH
Township wells above East Liverpool are tested for iron, manganese, and hardness, the three patterns in the Columbiana County record. A water test shows which of them a home has. A FerronX handles iron and manganese, a carbon filter any sulfur smell, and a softener the hardness. On city water, a CityLux takes out the chlorine.
The hills around East Liverpool are drilled through rock, and depth varies from one ridge to the next. We match air rotary or cable tool to the ground, handle the permit paperwork, set the casing and the pump, and test water flow before the rig leaves.
Well pump & pressure tank service in East Liverpool, OH
Hillside wells work their pumps hard, lifting water a long way to the house. When pressure falls off or the water stops, the crew diagnoses the pump, switch, and tank together and replaces what failed, with the common submersible sizes on the truck.

Rock From the Top Down Near East Liverpool
A drill here is in rock almost from the start. The middle half of logs reached bedrock between 3 and 14 feet, so nearly the whole bore is cut through rock. The rock mapped at the city center is the Allegheny and Pottsville Groups: shale, siltstone, limestone and sandstone.
With so little soil over the rock, the seal around the casing matters all the more: the grout packed around it keeps surface water from running down the outside of the pipe. Air rotary drilling is the usual method for an all-rock bore like this, and well drilling explains how the method is matched to the ground. A home on a well of its own gets the full picture from residential well drilling.
Sizing the Pump to Each East Liverpool Well
Flow is the hard number to predict. A quarter of logged wells record 5 gallons per minute or less, another quarter 30 or more, and the median sits at 12. Two lots a short way apart can land at opposite ends.
So the yield measured when drilling ends is the figure to size around. A well at the high end can take a submersible pump chosen for the household. One at the low end needs a pump matched to its recovery and a pressure tank big enough to cut short cycling, with the water standing in the bore as a reserve. Water quality on a well or on the city’s river supply is covered on the East Liverpool water treatment page.

“
FROM OUR CUSTOMERSPump replacement & well casing
“Chatfield Drilling replaced a submersible pump, extended our well casing above ground, and installed a sanitary cap at our farm house. This is our first experience with a well. Both Matt and Sam were happy to answer all of our questions, no matter how small, in a way that we could understand and enabled us to make informed decisions.”

Do you service well pumps in East Liverpool?+
Yes. Submersible and jet pump repair and replacement, switches, pressure tanks, and constant-pressure systems, from our Cortland office. No-water calls go to the front of the line.
Does East Liverpool city water need treatment?+
It is treated before it reaches you. The chlorine it carries is the part you may taste or smell at the tap, and a CityLux takes it out of the whole house while it softens the water. A water test shows whether anything else is worth treating. Lead from your own plumbing takes a certified-lab test.

The median well was logged at 12 gallons per minute. Drillers reached bedrock at a median of 5 feet. Your own well's depth depends on the ground under your lot.
How do well depths near East Liverpool compare with the county?+
They run deeper than most. East Liverpool ranks fifth of 21 Columbiana County towns by median well depth, and a quarter of local wells go past 235 feet. Since footage is a large part of drilling cost, it is sensible to budget a new well here toward the deeper end and let the drilling settle the final figure.
Does East Liverpool’s city water come from wells?+
No. EPA lists the East Liverpool City system as surface water drawn from the Ohio River, and homes on it get their water report from the city. The well figures on this page describe private wells in the area, which draw their own groundwater rather than river water.
